Dental School Update

As most of you know I was scheduled to take the DAT this morning. My testing center was in Lynchburg, about 45 minutes away, and my test was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. The test is comprised of several sections: Biology (40 questions), Chemistry (30 questions), Organic Chemistry (30 questions), Perceptual Ability Test (90 questions), Reading Comprehension (50
questions), and Quantitative Reasoning (40 questions). The first 100 questions must be completed in 90 minutes, the next 90 must be completed in 60 minutes, 50 minutes for R.C. and 45 min. for Q.R. Each subsection can receive a perfect score of 30, the national average is 17.
In January I met with the Dean of Admissions at VCU and he informed me that I should aim for a score of a 19. The past six months I have been preparing myself to improve my score in hopes of gaining admission to dental school. This test was very different from what I expected, much more difficult. Here are the results:
Biology-20
Organic Chemistry-18
Gen. Chemistry-17
PAT-20
R.C.-20
Q.R.-17
Science Total-19
Academic Ave.-18

We feel very good about our chances this year and appreciate your prayers and support. My score will be sent to the dental schools we have applied to, Temple, Maryland, VCU, Louisville, and Creighton, in the next two to three weeks and I should be hearing back from them sometime this fall. Mom, thank you so much for the course! It really kept me focused on being prepared. We will keep you updated on our happenings.
